In the reading, it talks about the introduction of the new logo of The New York Public Library. The problem of their first design is that it's intricate drawing for the web and other print materials the immediacy was not clear. The main two challenges that the designers had to come across were:
-updating the design to meet the practical requirements of a contemporary logo, that would not degrade at a small size on the web.
-to promote the effective messaging in line with today's Library and NYPL's new mission statement.
The improvements of the new design are significant because it is clear and legible when reduced size. It still keeps the entity of the library and it gives it a more contemporary feel. It is clear and the typography is clear and not as ornamented.
